ProTabs app – Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

The app is made by Gitaartabs (www.gitaartabs.nl), owner Jan van der Heide, Austerlitz 5, 3452 LK Vleuten, the Netherlands, Chamber of Commerce 30252428, email info@gitaartabs.nl. We are the controller of your personal data.

2. Data we process

• Account data: your name and email address when you create an account, or the name and email Apple or Google share when you sign in with them.
• Guest use: if you choose “Explore first”, we create an anonymous account without name or email, so favorites and playlists work. You can turn it into a full account later.
• User ID: a random identifier for your account.
• Purchases: your subscription status and purchase history. Payments are handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play); we never receive your card details.
• Your content: favorites, playlists, recently played songs and, if you add one, your profile photo.
• Usage data: which screens and features you use (for example opening a song or starting a trial), to improve the app.
• Messages you send us, for example a request for new ProChords.

We do not collect your location, contacts or advertising ID, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

3. Permissions on your device

• Microphone: only used by the tuner and the chord changes trainer to detect the notes and chords you play. Audio is processed on your device and is never recorded, stored or uploaded. We ask for this permission only when you open one of these tools.
• Photos and camera: only when you choose a profile photo. Only the photo you pick is uploaded.

4. Why we process your data

• To provide the app: your account, favorites, playlists and access to ProTabs, ProChords and Guitar Pro tabs (performance of the contract).
• To manage your subscription (performance of the contract).
• To improve and secure the app (legitimate interest).
• To send service emails and, unless you unsubscribed, news about the app (legitimate interest; every email has an unsubscribe link).

5. Service providers

We only share data with providers that process it on our behalf:

• Supabase – account, database and file storage.
• RevenueCat – subscription management.
• Apple and Google – sign-in, app distribution and payments.
• Soundslice – the interactive ProTab player. When you open a ProTab we send Soundslice your user ID (not your name or email) so unique users can be counted.
• YouTube (Google) – music videos are played with the official YouTube player, which may set its own identifiers.
• Resend – sending our emails.

6. Transfers outside the EEA

Some providers, such as Supabase, RevenueCat and Soundslice, process data in the United States. We use appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

7. How long we keep data

We keep your data as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data, except what we must keep by law (for example financial records, for 7 years).

8. Delete your account

You can delete your account at any time in the app: Profile › Settings › Delete Account. Your account and personal data are deleted right away. You can also email info@gitaartabs.nl with the subject “Delete request”. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription: cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings.

9. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict and port your data, and to object. Email info@gitaartabs.nl; we respond within the legal deadline. You can also file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).

10. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13.

We may update this policy. The current version is always on this page, with the date at the top.
